Kustom Rod Kits
Welcome to K-Kustom Rods and welcome to my site. I make up what is a small custom rod shop located in Anchorage, Alaska. Single-handed fly rods, Spey, and Center-Pin/Float rods are my specialty, but I build spinning and bait-casting rods as well. I invite you to look through my site and discover what my craftsmanship, attention to detail, and design  bring to the custom rod market. I design and build each rod with a level of craftsmanship that will challenge any of the rods you find on the market today. I build one rod at a time and customer satisfaction is priority one.
Before I build each rod, I enlist the customer's input so the rod will be exactly what they want.  I go over the type of fishing they are going to be doing and then we design the rod around that. The customer has many choices to choose from as far as the action of the rod, color of the components, type of guides and reel seat and what the grip will look like.  The possibilities are almost endless. Here are some photos of what I have put on other customer's rods.

Once all of the decisions are made I start the process of completing the rod.  The blank is cleaned and inspected for visible defects and straightness. Any blank that does not meet my strict guidelines is not used.  I turn each grip myself and some reel seat inserts as well.  I fine-tune each guide for the best possible fit carefully wrap each rod by hand using proper tension on the thread and ensuring the wraps are even.  Each rod has an application of finish applied to it and turns in a heated dust-free dryer box for a minimum of 8 hours to guarantee a flawless finish. I ensure the rod is cured and do a final check of all wraps and apply another coat of finish and let it cure in the dryer box as well. All rods are given at least 2 coats of finish to ensure the wraps are evenly covered and smooth.

I take orders for new rods, repairs, and customizing year round, turn around time is usually about 2 months. Between the months of May and October, that time may be slightly longer as that is Alaska’s fishing season. I will keep you informed of delays or parts problems and always do my best to minimize the time it takes, but I will not rush your finished product. If you are interested in more information or just want to ask me a question feel free to drop me a line, I welcome all inquiries.                                        Thank you,  Ken
